TCU Education: When humanity calls, we answer.

Silent Mentor Program

Tzu Chi University is the first to implement the “Silent Mentor” program, extending a bridge of undying veneration to those in the community seeking to give meaningfully beyond their lives. “Silent Mentors” are volunteer body donors who, having lost the ability to teach through the life of speech, silently impart their “last lesson” to Tzu Chi Medical students. After a dedicated ritual ceremony of honoring, they take all cuts and errors on behalf of future living patients, ensuring vital precision through critical practice in an atmosphere of cherishing and safety. This immeasurable offering bestows the selfless giving and compassion needed to grow Tzu Chi’s medical students into humanistic medical professionals who truly “care,” as Master Cheng Yen intended.
