What is a Semester Abroad?

Spend one to two semesters at an academic institution abroad while earning credit toward your program at TCU! Semester abroad, or exchange, is your chance to try something new, be ahead of the curve, and add global experience to your program before graduation. Semester exchanges are set up between TCU and an academic institution we are partnered with.

Important Dates

Publication of application brochure for outbound students: November of each school year
The updated list of host universities: The number of places offered by our partner universities differs from year to year. Information is continuously updated, starting from Mid-December of the previous year until the application deadline.

Am I Eligible?

You must be in good academic and disciplinary standing to study abroad.
To be nominated for the Semester Abroad, you must be:

-Enrolled full-time at TCU at the degree, sophomores, juniors, and seniors are eligible for term-time study abroad.
-Students who ranked in the top 50% in academic performance.
– Excellent language capabilities and language proficiency certificates, depending on sister school (Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT), TOEFL iBT, IELTS, and TOEIC)

How Much Does it Cost?

You pay your regular tuition and fees to TCU, and are not subject to international student fees at the partner school! Since you remain a TCU student while you are abroad.

Step 2: Complete the Application and Study Plan

You can find the online program description here CN / EN. This link includes detailed instructions on the application process, guidelines to writing a study plan, Terms and Conditions and the Application Form.

Step 3: Complete the Interview

The TCU committee will review your application and study plan, and invite you to attend an interview. The purpose of the interview is for our team to get to know you and to understand your reasons for studying abroad. Please review your Study Plan prior to coming to the interview.

What Happens Next?

All successful candidates nominated for a Semester Abroad will receive a notification after the interview. This notification will list the host institution you have been recommended to and information regarding next steps.
