Department of Laboratory Medicine and Biotechnology

Bachelor’s Degree

Department Introduction

In order to cultivate talented professionals with humanistic literacy, the learning objectives of our program will target good language ability, rich humanistic literacy, competency in Medical Laboratory Technology and Biotechnology, as well as the ability to perform experiments and analyze and interpret data.

We place special emphasis on teaching in English, Information Technology, and Molecular Biotechnology.

    1. To equip students with skills and knowledge in molecular biology, the department requires that sophomores take Molecular Biology, offers Biotechnology as an elective, and provides Clinical Biochemistry, Clinical Microbiology, and Immunology&Serology in Laboratory Medicine for them to enhance their skills in carrying out a variety of clinical work.
    2. The department regards biotechnology as the target of its future development, and its faculty members work with other faculty to offer the Biotechnology Program.
    3. To assist students in acquiring their skills in research, the department provides seminars to guide them in gaining practical skills through participation in research projects. In addition, we train students to use logic in designing their research.
    4. To enhance general laboratory medicine courses, in addition to offering Clinical Biochemistry, Clinical Microbiology, Clinical Hematology, Practice in Clinical Serology, Blood Banking, Clinical Microscopy, and Clinical Microscopy Laboratory, the department also provides Histotechnology, Parasitology, and Tuberculosis Testing.

Future Career

After graduation, our students either enter employment or choose further studies. Within laboratory medicine, graduates may work as medical technologists in public or private medical institutions or as government officers in public health departments. In biotechnology, our graduates can work in R&D departments in the biotechnology industry, or the sales departments of medical equipment or lab instrument companies.

Advanced study options for our students are extensive, either at home or abroad. Graduates can apply for research-based degrees related to life sciences or medical science.
