Department of Physical Therapy

Bachelor’s Degree

Department Introduction

The department prepares students to become physical therapy professionals equipped with professional skills and knowledge, meet the public’s needs, and attend to their patients with loving care.

We designed the curriculum to meet three goals listed below:

    1. Enhance students’ ability to integrate physical therapy fundamental and clinical medical knowledge to provide patients with comprehensive professional services.
    2. Prepare students to become physical therapists with professional skills and knowledge, fundamental administrative abilities, research capabilities, and professional ethics.
    3. Educate students to be capable of independent thinking and continuing their lifelong learning.

To work towards the future, the department set the following goals:

    1. Work closely with local healthcare institutions, enabling the University to become a major teaching and research physical therapy institution in eastern Taiwan.
    2. Provide facilities for students to learn in classrooms and offer clerkship and internship opportunities to practice firsthand.
    3. The department offers diverse courses, and traditional breathing and circulation physical therapy, pediatric physical therapy, neurophysical therapy, and orthopedic physical therapy are some of them. To assist students in developing their sub-specialties, we provide courses in long-term care, physical therapy in the community, aging and heart disease, tissue engineering, soft tissue biomechanics, etc.

The department built five well-equipped practicing laboratory classrooms, five group discussion rooms, one hydrotherapy laboratory classroom, and an assistive device practice classroom to provide students with a good learning/practicing environment.
